Southington CT, The Apple Valley

Southington, better known as The Apple Valley, is located a little outside of Connecticut’s state capital, Hartford. Initially a part of Farmington, Southington CT became its own jurisdiction after a group of settlers from Farmington moved into the area in the 1700s. After they prospered, a new community was created there. They initially named the area South Farmington but later changed the name to Southington, a combination of the two original names.

Another seasonal classic in Southington is Mount Southington; a ski resort on top of a mountain going by the same name. There are many trails, lodging, and restaurants for winter sports lovers. Being one of the few ski resorts in CT, Mount Southington is very popular among locals.
