CT Courts and Police Operations Changes Amid COVID-19

CT Courts and Police Operations Changes Amid COVID-19

“CT courts and police are making changes to their everyday services to reduce the spread of the virus”

Today there is unrest and uncertainty in the world. We are facing changes in our lives by the hour. Times are even more difficult for those who have a loved one in prison. To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus the state started to follow CDC guidelines, limiting the number of people inside courthouses and now they are implementing the closing of all courts twice a week. CT Police have set up online processes and restricted entrance to the public in general. Instead, local police are asking residents to call first.

Starting April 14 of 2020, all Connecticut courts will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays until further notice.

Anyone entering a CT Court is required to wear a cloth face-covering, see more details.

Local Police & State Police Operations Have Changed to Protect First Responders and Public in General Amid COVID-19

ct local police Local police and Connecticut State police are implementing social distancing by limiting the exposure to residents in general. Connecticut State Police (CSP) announced that administrative and healthcare fingerprinting services will not be available until further notice. You can learn more here.

Many if not all local police departments are asking to call them first to evaluate the need of you coming to the police department. If you are required to come in, there are many questions they will ask.

New London police placed a statement with the following on their Facebook page:

Our dispatchers will further screen calls for service by asking some additional questions of persons that are requesting police/fire/EMS services.

o Are you sick?

o Are you feverish?

o Do you have a dry cough?

o Have you traveled out of the country in the last 14 days?

o Have you been in recent contact with anyone with COVID-19/Coronavirus?

All these guidelines are being implemented to protect our law enforcement personnel and to minimize the spread of the virus. Many CT police departments have followed with the same set of questions prior to making direct contact with residents.

REMEMBER: Most police departments have placed notices on the front door stating to call first. Lobby entrances are restricted until further notice.
